256 pages, 77 color and 177 b/w photographs. Cloth cover. From the approximately 1200 Inuit sculptural figures that comprise the national collection of the Muse de la Civilisation in Quebec City, 200 were selected for inclusion in this now out of print volume that highlights this collection. Strikingly handsome, this work presents sculpture from twelve locales in three regions: Ungava Bay, Hudson Straits, and Hudson Bay. The photographs of the objects are very good, and each is accompanied by full information: provenance, title, name of artist, date, material used, dimensions. In addition, the text includes a discussion (in French) of sculptural themes that reappear in the sculpture of the Inuit.
