Add to baskethardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Second Impression. Travis's Flora of South Lancashire, J.P. Savidge, V.H. Heywood & V. Gordon (Eds.) â" Second Impression Publication: Liverpool, Liverpool Botanical Society, 1964 Formatting: 8vo, pp. xv, 400. Condition Report: Near Fine. This copy is exceptionally well-preserved, sitting squarel…y within the upper echelon of the grade. The green cloth boards remain remarkably tight and square, displaying bright, unoxidised gilt tooling to both the spine and front board. The binding is firm and secure, showing no evidence of shelf-lean or significant wear to the extremities. Internally, the text block is bright, clean, and entirely free of foxing, dampstaining, or previous ownership signatures, retaining sharp corners throughout. The accompanying dust jacket is similarly crisp, unclipped, and free of notable tears or loss, exhibiting only the faintest trace of natural toning to the spine panel and trivial edge-wear. An unusually bright, collector-quality example of this regional flora. Catalogue Note: This is a sharply preserved copy of the second impression, issued in 1964 following the true first printing of 1963. Edited by J.P. Savidge, V.H. Heywood, and V. Gordon, this work stands as a comprehensive record of the region's botany, formally dedicated to the memory of William G. Travis (Secretary of the South Lancashire Flora Committee, 1906â"1957). The volume is illustrated with a frontispiece photograph and features a fold-out map at the rear. Copies of this specific title do not frequently appear on the open market in such a bright and complete state. It is particularly uncommon to find the original publisher's dust jacket without significant chipping, sunning, or loss. Representing over half a century of rigorous botanical field investigation,ÂTravis's Flora of South Lancashire offers an exhaustive cataloguing of the region's plant life. Compiled by the Liverpool Botanical Society from the extensive records left by William G. Travis, this authoritative volume details the distribution, habitat, and ecological characteristics of the flora across the diverse landscapes of South Lancashire. It remains an invaluable reference for botanists, ecologists, and local historians interested in the historical biodiversity and natural heritage of North West England. N/A (illustrator).
