Straordinario esemplare: la copia numero 34 di sole 89, dalla biblioteca di Giuseppe Ungaretti, pregiata dall'invio autografo dell'autore «Roma 25 luglio 1949 | Al mio caro amico Ungaretti | Bruno Barilli» e ben completa di tutte le tavole numerate e firmate dai rispettivi artisti. In ottime condizioni di conservazione, fresco e pulito (leggerissima brunitura al taglio superiore e al dorso; una piccola macchia in prossimità del piede sul piatto anteriore; legatura leggermente allentata). Rarissima grande plaquette tirata in sole 89 copie numerate a stampa (le prime 15 su carta "Duca di Parma", e 16-89 su "Duca di Modena"). Praticamente assente dalle sedi istituzionali: manca del tutto al censimento ICCU, e OCLC registra a livello mondiale il solo «exemplaire no. 64. Presentation inscription from Barilli to Jean Paulhan, Rome, 19 octobre 1948. From the library of Jean Paulhan» archiviato alla Beinecke Library di Yale. È possibile localizzare alcuni esemplari in collezioni private seguendo l'iter delle mostre, come ad esempio: Alberto Savinio (Roma 1978, p. 220 del cat.), Giorgio De Chirico 1888-1978 (Roma 1981-1982, p. 203 del cat.), Casa Barilli (Parma 1997-1998, il n. 16 registrato a p. 261 del cat.). L'esemplare 18 è registrato, per quanto riguarda la sola litografia di Savinio, alla GAMC di Viareggio (già collezione Vera e Giovanni Pieraccini). -- Libro d'artista nato all'interno di quel cenacolo romano che pochi anni prima, complice il torchio privato di Velso Mucci e Dora Broussard, aveva prodotto le 14 cartelle del «Concilium Lithographicum» (1944-1947). L'incisore è infatti lo stesso, Iginio Alessandrini, e l'eleganza tipografica e la cura ossessiva del dettaglio sono quelle della collezione di cartelle del Concilium. Anche l'autore e gli illustratori sono tutti e quattro reduci dalla stamperia Mucci-Broussard di via Magutta, con Barilli e De Chirico già insieme in «Comme la lune» (1945) prosa lirica non a caso ripresa qui, a chiusura della «Loterie». «La "Loterie" raccoglie, ritaglia, rimonta in collage, integra e sviluppa frammenti pubblicistici (da articoli apparsi, tra il 1943 e il 1947, su "Il Popolo d'Italia", "Il Selvaggio", "Costume politico e letterario") e letterari (già autonomamente editi) secondo pratica di compilazione (composizione) dei saggi musicologici per riciclo e gemmazione (uno nell'altro, dall'altro, dentro l'altro)» (Ferrari, p. 21). Tali riusi sono stati rintracciati con precisione filologica da Battistini e Cristiani nell'edizione moderna dei «Capricci di vegliardo» (p. 347). Il libro contiene cinque componimenti titolati «Amour et jalousie», «Malattia», «Administration des funérailles», «Portrait», «Comme la lune». -- Le tre incisioni svolgono il medesimo tema, che è poi lo stesso dell'ulteriore incisione in copertina, non firmata ma di Maccari: il ritratto dell'autore del libro, Bruno Barilli riconoscibile per la testa ricciuta. De Chirico raffigura un Barilli in posa dannunziana, insonne in ambiente notturno appena rischiarato dalla luna (Comme la lune), conteso tra i libri e il pianoforte ai due estremi della composizione (n. 143 dell'opera grafica curata da Ciranna). In Maccari domina la scena il testone ricciuto, di profilo e con rivolo di sangue che sgocciola dal labbro; sotto, sulle assi di un palcoscenico, il profilarsi di una scena di guerra, un abbozzo di corpo di donna riverso e un allegorico abbraccio alla morte con scheletro e pipistrelli: quasi certamente omaggio alla seconda opera di Barilli, l'atto unico «Emiral» di cui compose musiche e libretto nel 1925, ispirato a una leggenda balcanica e incentrato sui temi della guerra e dell'amore. L'incisione di Savinio è senz'altro la più riuscita delle tre: «una testa alla Magritte con la nuca sopra giacca e cravatta», ebbe a definirla Arbasino nei «Ritratti italiani». Il disegno originale (esposto come «[Senza titolo]» nella retrospettiva personale Roma 1978, p. 220 del catalogo) reca la dedica autografa datata 1948 a Velso Mucci chiudendo così idealmente il cerchio con il «Concilium lithographicum», cui quest'opera si pone, un anno dopo, come riuscitissima e conclusiva filiazione. Edizione originale. Straordinario esemplare: la copia numero 34 di sole 89, dalla biblioteca di Giuseppe Ungaretti, pregiata dall'invio autografo dell'autore «Roma 25 luglio 1949 | Al mio caro amico Ungaretti | Bruno Barilli» e ben completa di tutte le tavole numerate e firmate dai rispettivi artisti. In ottime condizioni di conservazione, fresco e pulito (leggerissima brunitura al taglio superiore e al dorso; una piccola macchia in prossimità del piede sul piatto anteriore; legatura leggermente allentata). legatura a filo con copertina in brossura e sovracoperta bianco avorio risvoltata a tamburo; notevole disegno di Mino Maccari in litografia impressa a piena campitura sull'intera estensione della sovracoperta: in quarta di copertina una caricatura dell'autore in frac e gestualità da direttore d'orchestra regge un filo che.
