Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page to Miss Josephine Anne Freeman along with a September 1937 date. DJ is soiled and scuffed numerous chips and large tears. At some point…the underside of the jacket was neatly reinforced with masking tape along the top and bottom edges. Blue paper covered boards underneath show some spotting and toning along edges and spine but have otherwise always been protected by the jacket. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No bookplates or library markings in the only handwriting is from the author which also includes a correction on page 119, line 5, where a single word was crossed out and the spelling corrected by hand. No other handwriting found in the book. Signed by Author(s).
