[NL] Jan Scharp (1756-1828) was een Nederlands theoloog, predikant en dichter. Jan Scharp was leerling van de Latijnse school in 's-Gravenhage. Hierna studeerde hij theologie in Leiden en werd hij predikant in het Zeeuwse Sint-Annaland, waarhij in 1779 de psalmberijming van 1773 invoerde. Hij is begraven in de Laurenskerk Rotterdam. Hij verdedigde het christelijk geloof tegen het deïsme, zoals blijkt uit dit Godgeleerd-historische verhandeling en uit zijn proefschrift. Er is ook een Ds. Jan Scharpstraat in Rotterdam, vlakbij de markthal.
