It is a commentary on English book illustration from 966 to 1846 as illustrated by the permanent exhibition of illuminated manuscripts in the Grenville Library and a special exhibition of printed books in the King's Library. The booklet has 20 pages including four full page colour plates of illuminated manuscripts and four full page monochrome plates of printed books The booklet is in very good condition considering its size and fragility with very minor bumps on the corners and top edges. Otherwise the item is unmarked and clean. The image shows approximately half of the front cover.
