Dazu bedient sich der Autor dynamischer, stochastischer, allgemeiner Gleichgewichtsmodelle. Zur Endogenisierung einer Finanzierungsstruktur implementiert er einen Trade-Off zwischen den steuerlichen Vorteilen und zusätzlichen Kosten der Fremdfinanzierung. Zudem berücksichtigt er weitere Friktionen in Form von Gewohnheitsbildung und Kapitalanpassungskosten, die die Erzeugung einer in der Empirie beobachtbaren Renditestruktur ermà glichen. In Modellsimulationen für Deutschland und die Vereinigten Staaten arbeitet der Autor neben den Niveaueffekten der Besteuerung auch deren konjunkturelle Effekte heraus.
