Das radikale Ausjäten allein ist nicht mehr die Lösung, denn viele von ihnen können problemlos in den Garten integriert werden. Zudem stehen zahlreiche der geschmähten Unkr…äuter auf der "Roten Liste der gefährdeten Pflanzen" und sind deswegen umso mehr schützenswert. Vom Umgang mit den Unkräutern Was ist ein Unkraut, ein Beikraut, eine Pionierpflanze? Gefährdete Pflanzen unter den Unkräutern Die Lebensbereiche der Unkräuter Rund 160 Pflanzenarten im Portrait Das Buch basiert auf einer sehr vernünftigen Idee: Unkraut kann nur mit massivem Aufwand ganz eliminiert werden. Daher ist in der Praxis eine gewisse Toleranz sinnvoller. Der Autor beschreibt nun, welche "Unkräuter" im Garten toleriert werden können und sogar eine dekorative Funktion haben. Leider ist das Buch nicht zu Ende gedacht. Viel Potential für eine zweite Auflage: 1. "Möglichkeiten der Unkrautbekämpfung" ist nur 2 Seiten lang und wichtige Methoden, wie regelmäßges Mähen, Gründüngung, Bodendecker oder Pflanzung von Stauden werden nicht erwähnt. Da würde man aus dem Titel sich mehr erhoffen. 2. Manche Kapitel sehen irgendwie aus dem Zusammenhang gerissen aus (z.B. Rote Liste). Auch andere allgemeinere Teile sind nicht sehr hilfreich. 3. Der Hauptteil mit einer alphabetischen Abhandlung der Unkräuter hätte besser strukturiert werden können. Es werden unnötigerweise viele Abkürzungen und Codes verwendet. Der Schlüssel ist nicht etwa vorn oder hinten, sondern irgendwo im Buch versteckt. 4. Es fehlen wichtige Unkräuter, wie z.B. fast alle Kleearten. Jeder Rasenbesitzer wird das bedauern. 5. Die Fotos sind manchmal undeutlich, zu klein und fehlen bei manchen Planzen ganz. 6. Es fehlt ein Bezugsquellenverzeichnis. Vielleicht will sich ja der eine oder andere bestimmte (Un)kräuter auch ansäen, wie eine Wildblumenwiese. Es gibt durchaus ein paar Versender von Wildpflanzen oder Samen. 7. Die Bewertung der Unkräuter erscheint etwas willkürlich. Auch Hinweise auf Ziersorten fehlen meist. 8. Eine Liste von Verwendungsbereichen wäre wohl besser: z.B. Welche Wildpflanzen eignen sich als Bodendecker, als Solitärstauden etc. Auch eine Sortierung nach Standorten wäre hilfreich: Pflanzen für das Sumpfbeet, für Trockenbereiche usw. Fazit: Gute Idee, aber noch nicht fertig. Die Foto-Liste der Pflanzen ist nützlich für die, die schon immer mal wissen wollten, was da im Garten ohne Einladung wächst.
