Mint paperback reprint of a 1947 publication. 294pp. The German attack in the west in December 1944 was a last attempt by the German forces to disrupt the progress eastwards of the Allied armies under Eisenhower, and for some days it was a threat to strategic plans and Anglo-American peace of mind. This account of the German preparations for the attack was written by Maj Schramm, who was the official German war historian. It gives details of the planning, and the changes in plan, before the attack was launched to the surprise of all on December 16, 1944. It is of particular value in that is is apparently the only English language publication on the subject. Of great interest is the hands-on approach by Hitler.
