Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 'Reprinted 1991 from the original (First Published 1927). Pathway Book Clubs. Fairly uncommon book in exceptional condition. Take a look at the photos. The green covers are perfectly clean and evidence no wear at all. The corners and edges look perfect. So do the spine ends. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. The page edges are very clean. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout. These pages are exceptionally clean. I'm scrolling through and not finding any soiling at all. That includes the inside covers and end papers. I'm not seeing any creasing. No markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There are 20 illustrations. They all appear to be in perfect condition. Terrific-looking book. The dust jacket is also in exceptional condition. I've had this book for a good number of years and I've had it in a fitted protective cover for all of that time. The dust jacket is exceptionally clean. Not seeing any soiling. I don't see any tears. Actually, I don't see any wear at all. The flaps are in excellent condition. They are perfectly clean. They don't have any wear. The jacket is not priced or clipped. One thing to note, having just scanned the photos: usually the color is pretty accurately represented, but in this case the actual hue of the green is a little darker than what the photos are showing. I think the darker color looks nicer. From the dust jacket: 'Eugenie was the seventh of eight children born to Clara and Robert Schumann. Her memoirs are a wonderful account of life spent in a very musical family and the circle of eminent musicians and friends who surrounded them. These legendary figures included Joseph Joachim, the violinist, Pauline Viardot-Garcia, the opera singer, and Hermann Levi, the conductor. And then, of course, there was Johannes Brahms, Clara's close friend, who did everything from giving piano lessons to the younger children (including Eugenie) to editing Robert's music. Eugenie retained no conscious memory of her father who was hospitalized when she was still an infant. However, she has a great deal to say about Brahms, including a description of her lessons with him and accounts of his practical jokes which were often musical. There is also a great deal about Clara, how and what she practiced, her opinions about music, and her struggle to support a large family. This is a book which is a pleasure to read and which will be of compelling interest to all who value the music and musicians of the second half of the nineteenth century.'.
