Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY RICHARD SCHWEIZER. TEXT IN GERMAN. Novelization of the Swiss film about a little French girl who emigrates into Switzerland during World War 2. Illustrated with 12 stills. The film won Richard Schweizer an Oscar in 1945 for the best original screenplay and was the first foreign language film to do so. The film won over a rather tepid group of nominees: "Dillinger", "Salty O'Rourke", "Music For Millions" & "What Next Corporal Hargrove." A few years later Schweizer won a second Oscar for co-writing the original story of "The Search" another film about child refugees. The film was also notable for being Montgomery Clift's first film for which he was nominated for a best actor Oscar. The book is lacking its dustjacket and the covers are slightly "bowed" along with edge wear. There is browning to the margins of the pages mostly due to the poor quality of the paper used, but it is otherwise in vg. condition. An uncommon book especially inscribed. Book.
