Interesting Scrap-Book containing a signed aquatint by Karl Schwetz, 1 photograph from the Atelier Redina Friedmann, 10 wonderful Art-Deco Illustratios, 20 Portraits of ladies with extravagant hats hairstyles, as well as illustrations of children, dogs,and horses and one advertising card: 'Maypole soap dyes any color wont wash out or fade. - Srap-Books of this quality are rare. Lavishly embossed contemporary black morocco, gilt-stamped border and detail on boards and spine, inside gilt dentelles, a. e. g., pink moire endpapers; 4to; approx. 100 heavy cardstock leaves in different colors, many with a decorative blind-stamped border. Joints lightly scuffed, else fine. Showcases manuscript poetry and a wonderful array of artwork by numerous contributors, as a few signed or initialed pieces attest (names mentioned include Phillis S. Samuel and Caroline Samuel). With 11 engravings (8 of them hand-colored), and 7 original pencil drawings, 12 original paintings (watercolors and gouaches), 4 original silhouettes. Very nicely accomplished images of birds and animals, landscapes, portraits of women (some in oriental dress), and scenes (like a group of men drinking and smoking at a table). A pleasing collection, including an original trompe l'oeil piece, that appears to be a collaged collection of cards.
