SARONNO aveva allora 2056 abitanti, 9 chiese, il famodo Santuario, e vari Oratori; il clero risultò illetterato, non devoto e affarista e si meritò energici provvedimenti qui riportati, tra cui l'affidamento della formazione del clero ai Minori Conventuali, multe, avocazione alla Curia delle entrate del Santuario (che era sotto un governo dittatorio imposto da un maggiorente locae(G. B. Reina) ecc.
