Profusely illustrated throughout with b/w reproductions of photographs depicting maps, buildings and portraits from the Holocaust. Discusses prominent Nazis who managed to escape justice and even to hold respectable positions in postwar Germany. This book is an example of Holocaust remembrance during the era of the Eichmann trial where the process of remembering served primarily to place living Nazis on trial for their crimes. By using the term "Hitlerism" and not "Holocaust", the focus is on the perpetrators and not on the victims as martyrs. This book was produced in Soviet controlled Poland, and the Russians downplayed the Jewishness of the victims, focusing instead on the victims being "the working class.".
