Hardcover. Condition: Poor. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 368 pages (complete). This is the first book to have appeared under "Herbert Strang". Many, many books followed. It later emerged that 'Herbert Strang' was in fact, two people, George Herbert Ely and Charles James L'Estrange. This copy is much owned and has suffered from sad st…orage. The fierce, decorated cloth cover is still thrilling through the wear, scuffing, staining and marks. The spine is worn and cracked but is whole and fit. Inside, there is a school (Westminster City School) presentation plate (dated Xmas 1904). The frontipages are missing. The gutterings along the inside front and back covers have been repaired with masking tape. The frontisplate is loose. The papertrims were once gilded but have now oxydized. The pages are foxed throughout. However, they are firm, very sure, comfortable, welcoming, clear, utterly engaging. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
