Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Light scuff to lower corner of rear cover else fine. This book is a special exhibition of Paul Guigou by the Columbus Museum of Art. Paul Guigou, though he worked outside the tumultuous mainstream of late nineteenth-century painting in France, was nonetheless an exciting painter in his own right. His pictures spark the imagination, and his conscious rendering of the crystalline light of Provence gives pleasure to the eye. With a forcefulness equaled only by Courbet before him, he establishes gracefully receding spaces that pull the spectator into the world of the picture.
