Some of AndersonĠs earliest film endeavors were documentaries on a variety of topics, and lent to an important approach to many British films of the 60s, with their emphasis on a more intense and graphic social realism than had been presented prior, as demonstrated in LindsayĠs film This Sporting Life with Richard Harris, Karel ReiszĠs Saturday Night and Sunday Morning with Albert Finney, and Tony RichardsonĠs The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner with Michael Redgrave and Tom Courtenay.
