Each issue is around 25 pages and each issue has a detailed article with illustrations on some aspect of ship model making. Also book reviews and club news and information about the hobby. Nicely produced journal.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Hardbound volume of 6 issues of this journal, No. 40 (Feb 1933) through No. 45 (Oct-Nov 1933), shelfwear, stain (appears to be paint) on bottom section of front cover, tanning and light spotting on endpages, inside pages clean, binding solid. CH 2#.

All numbers of Volume 3 not present [February 1932 through January 1933]. The first two volumes bound in bland buckram, with textblock of volume 1 separated from covers. Volume 4 (and the first number of 5) loose, as issued. All 30 issues retain their original covers. Title page of Vol. 1 No. 4 detached but present. 856 pages in all.

Model of a magnificent frigate, entirely made of ivory. Animated deck with several characters, tiny seamen, cannons, and a trolling boat, all made of ivory. The parchment-thin mainsails cut in ivory, apparently billowing in the wind. The frigate comes under a glass bell jar on a wooden stand, 19th century. Dimensions of the glass bell jar: 25 x 23 cm. Dimensions of the frigate: 13 x 10 cm. The frigate's deck is a bit dirty and the inner edges of the wooden platform have been planned somewhat. A frigate is a fast, sailing warship that was smaller than a ship of the line, but larger than a corvette. Frigates were mainly used as escorts around the fleet (as is still the case today), for message traffic, or covert operations. The armament of a frigate consisted of 28 to 44 guns, mounted on one gun deck. Frigates were fast sailors and heavily enough armed to escort merchantmen in peacetime in areas made unsafe by pirates. In wartime, they could even take a place in the line. Originally, the frigate was a type of ship in the navy, but later (19th century) it became more of a name for the type of vessel. A Frigate is a ship with three masts, all of which are square-rigged, a so-called full ship. Model van een fregat, geheel gemaakt van ivoor. Met daarbij zeelui, een kanon en een sleepbootje.
