Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. (no dust jacket) [light shelfwear, a bit of fading to spine cloth, tiny stain at edge of rear fep]. INSCRIBED with a somewhat hokey gift inscription punning on the recipient's name and SIGNED by the author on the ffep, additionally dated 10/10/39 in his hand. Shippey was a popular Los Angeles newspaper columnist for many years, and also turned out a handful of novels (this was the third of four), set mostly in the fictional Southern California community of "Ourville," probably modeled after Sierra Madre, where he lived for several years. A dramatization of this novel was presented at the Pasadena Playhouse in 1939, where it ran for 41 performances and set an attendance record. Signed by Author.…
