An attractive print showing the interior and workings of a Dutch shoe maker. Cobblers are shown at work, the forms and tools & a client, with the family in the background. Copper engraving, 4x6.5" laid onto sheet 7 x 9.5", attractive later hand color, with strong impression mark. The text in Dutch "de voet besluit sich in de schoen, doch't is niet om de schoen te doen; maar, om den weg daar mee te treeden; de ziel woond wel in vlees en bloedt, maar't sy haar, als den schoen de voet, om mee te gaan, naa't land van vreeden" [the foot decides itself in the shoe, but it is not to do the shoe; but, to walk the way with it; the soul dwells in flesh and bleeds, but its hair, like the shoe, the foot, to go along to the land of peace].
