Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. QUO VADIS? OR THE WAY TO UNPRECEDENTED PROSPERITY BY W.C. SICKESZ 1938 + COVER LETTER. When I first saw this book, I confused it with the romantic novel of the time of Nero about the love between a Christian woman and a Roman Patrician, written by Henryk Sienkiewicz. I am sure that the author of this book being listed here, knew exactly what he was doing with his title. Please find something very different: Quo Vadis? Or the way to Unprecedented Prosperity by W.C. Sickesz. His premise, and one described in detail in the cover letter laid-in with this book was to appeal for a major shift in public investment to enable the transformation of war industries of the Allies to one of peace time and thus ensure full employment (and thus prosperity) for millions of workers across the nations. This small hard cover book (6 ½ x 9 ½ inches, 54 pages) was self-published by the Author and dated 1938. It is bound in dark blue cloth boards with gilt titles on cover and spine. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are slightly dust-dulled and the gilt titles on the spine, a bit muted. Inside, the book bears the bookplates (2) of the Giustiniani-Bandini Library from which I purchased it in an estate sale at the Palazzo of that Italian aristocracy in Rome in 1978. In addition to the cover letter from the Author laid-in, there is also a blank form for the reader s review of the book. The book shows some darkening and some foxing to the early pages, doubtless due to the acids of the binding glues. The interior pages do not have this issue. There is a water stain along the top edge of both endpapers which fortunately does not appear to have penetrated the actual pages of the book. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight, sound and square.
