He maintained a daily diary during his service. After the war Davis prepared a handwritten manuscript from his diary entries in 1898 which was handed down from generation to generation with no attempt to have it published until 1991. The original consisted of approximately 500 pages but this booklet was done in a small quantity to raise money to eventually help in printing the entire work. Very good copy of the soft bound first edition booklet. 58 pages.
