Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. Illustrated by Chris Temple (I Think, the Signatures Are Very Small); (illustrator). H/b; pretty illus board covers; 4to; spine splitting partially down one side; some paper peeling off top layer of spine; this book belongs to box contains name & date 1941. Attractive colour frontis; 3 further colour plates (1 loose) ; writing inside back cover; some untidy colouring in on b/w line drawings; Scottie & Westie on rear cover ; this book which tells the adventures of a family - Peter, Pam and Poppy going on holiday, has been much loved and used. Some of the small pictures have been untidily coloured, and one of the large colour plates is detached. Nevertheless, there are some lovely colour plates, and it is very much a book of the times - although be warned there is a chapter titled 'The Niggers', and obviously contains offensive language and storyline (although this would have been consiered acceptable at the time of writing! ) , when referring to some men who put soot on their skin to change colour and entertain as musicians; 1st story is The Invitation; ; 4to 11" - 13" tall.
