Niall Ó Dónaill (27 August 1908 ? 10 February 1995) who was an Irish language lexicographer from Ailt an Eidhinn, Loughanure, County Donegal. Ó Dónaill is most famous for his work as editor of the 1977 Irish-English dictionary Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla, which is still widely used today. Ó Dónaill received his education at Scoil Loch an Iúir in Loughanure before gaining a scholarship to St Eunan's College in Letterkenny. Another scholarship took him to University College Dublin to study Irish, English and History. In June 1982 he was awarded a D.Litt by Trinity College Dublin. Ó Dónaill wrote the book Bruigheann Féile which is based on stories of pastimes in the Gaeltacht town Loughanure and its surrounding area. Ó Dónaill's book Na Glúnta Rosannacha was first published in 1952. He was awarded Gradam an Oireachtais at Oireachtas na Gaeilge in 1980.…

From his LA Times obituary: "Frederik Ebbesen Grue, a nationally recognized artist and former resident of Santa Paula, has died of lymphoma. Grue died Nov. 22 at age 44. A native of Tarzana, Grue lived and worked in Santa Paula from 1978 to 1983, when he moved to Indiana to fulfill his longtime dream of owning and restoring a Victorian mansion. Grue, a self-taught still-life artist, first exhibited his work in 1981 at the Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, which has produced the only signed and numbered limited edition print by the artist. Palladin died of lung cancer in 2001. Although Jean-Louis signed this copy in 1999, it was not distributed until 2002 at a postumous dinner in his honor. Tipped-in at the rear is a printed sheet for the: Friends of James Beard Dinner in Memory of Chef Jean-Louis Palladin, Hosted by Alize at the Top of the Palms Casino Resort, Monday, November 25, 2002. On the opposite page are the signatures of 11 Las Vegas celebrity chefs who hosted or attended the dinner tribute. Sure, the payoffs can be great, but everyone knows the house always wins. Well, maybe not always. One of the biggest gambles the city has taken in recent years is the transformation of the dining scene from all-you-can-eat prime-rib buffets to world-class restaurants. The hotels that invested in these new eating establishments are reaping financial rewards, but the real winners are the residents and tourists who can now feast on some of the best food in the country. He intentionally blinded himself in a desperate bid to permanently halt his own compulsive criminal career. He stated that if he could no longer see, he would no longer forge signatures. Examining federal physicians disputed how much of his vision was destroyed by the self-inflicted injury. By late 1947 and early 1948, he was captured again and photographed being led through federal courtrooms completely blind, relying on U.S. Marshals to guide him. Jerome Poster spent the remaining years of his life in and out of the federal prison system and institutional confinement. His self-blinding did not put an end to his legal struggles or his compulsions. After Poster used a smuggled syringe to blind himself, prison doctors at Holmesburg County Prison acted quickly. Their emergency treatment successfully restored most of his eyesight. The severe nature of his self-inflicted injury caused a sympathetic judge to reduce his bail from $25,000 to just $500 so he could seek outside specialized medical care. Instead of seeking treatment, Poster skipped town, and went right back to forging checks under the alias "Raymond Benet". Postal Inspectors tracked his new bad checks and cornered him once again. When recaptured, he told the arresting inspector, "I thought I could shake you guys. I should have known better." On April 9, 1948, a federal judge ended his cross-country run by sentencing the 24-year-old "Boy Wonder of Forgery" to a straight 10-year prison sentence. Because of his self-destructive tendencies and compulsion, after the 1948 conviction his years in prison were closely monitored.
