Hardcover. Condition: Fine condition. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine dust jacket. Jaramillo, Raquel (jacket design) (illustrator). First Printing of the First Edition. New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1994. SIGNED directly on the title page by Sue Grafton with her characteristic black sharpie (her signature only, NOT personalized to anyone). A handsome copy of the first printing. Fine condition in a Fine dust jacket. Protected by a removable Brodart clear-plastic sleeve. NOT price clipped ($22.95). NO chips. NO tears. NO creases. NO fading. Bright, shiny, clean, square and tight. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a remainder. Pages are creamy white, clean, crisp and unmarked. 1994. First printing, with "First Edition" so stated, and complete number row (13579 10 8642) on the copyright page. Because this is signed DIRECTLY on the title page it means that Sue Grafton personally handled the book (unlike copies with only a signed bookplate). Bound in the original black boards with a black cloth spine stamped in metallic red. From the dust jacket: "Lorna Kepler was beautiful and willful, a loner who couldn't resist flirting with danger. Maybe that's what killed her. Her death had raised a host of tough questions. The cops suspected homicide, but they could find neither motive nor suspect. Even the means were mysterious: Lorna's body was so badly decomposed when it was discovered that they couldn't be certain she hadn't died of natural causes. In the way of overworked cops everywhere, the case was gradually shifted to the back burner and became another unsolved file. Only Lorna's mother kept it alive, consumed by the certainty that somebody out there had gotten away with murder. In the ten months since her daughter's death, Janice Kepler had joined a support group, trying to come to terms with her loss and her anger. It wasn't helping. And so, leaving a session one evening and noticing a light on in the offices of Millhone Investigations, she knocked on the door. In answering that knock, Kinsey Millhone is pulled into the netherworld of unavenged murder, where only a pact with the devil will satisfy the restless ghosts of the victims and give release to the living they have left behind. Eleven books into the series that has won her readers around the world, Sue Grafton takes a darkside turn, pitching us into a shadow land of pain and grief where killers still walk free, unaccused, unpunished, unrepentant. With "K" IS FOR KILLER she offers a tale that is dark, complex, and deeply disturbing.". Signed by the Author (her signature only). First Printing of the First Edition. Hardcover. Fine condition/Fine dust jacket. Illus. by Jaramillo, Raquel (jacket design). 8vo. (xiv), 285pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. This is not a pristine unread copy; BUT it is a signed limited edition that escaped being pulped. One of the copies that escaped this fate! The author withdrew the copies of the very first printing because of the textual errors accidentally included. It was rumoured to be the uncorrected text that was sent out as a proof. Presumably there were a few heads that rolled at the publishers! This copy has been read and maybe placed on a sunny shelf by somebody who simply didn't care. The top and leading edges of the text block are a touch sunned and there is a bit of a lean that indicates it has been read. No names other than the author; and this is on the special tipped in limitation page. When all is said and done this is undoubtedly one of the rare copies, and it is a brilliant read. Text block paper is tanning, which is naughty of the publisher ; here is a great book, by a renowned writer, and Faber choose to print it on cheap pulp. Apart from this foolish decision this is a nicely designed production. The full colour cover is a French flap structure that has a beautiful monochrome photograph underneath it. So, a high standard of design and typography, but they print it on rubbish paper! Cannot understand why. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng. Add to basketHardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. 1st Edition, 1st Printing of this wonderful Literary Noir which has prompted comparisons with Charlie Huston, Duane Swierczynski, John Ridley, James Crumley and James Ellroy. But this man's voice is none of these; he is a true original. SIGNED by Christopher Goffard on the Title Page. AUTHOR'S 1ST NOVEL and a 2008 EDGAR AWARD NOMINEE for BEST FIRST NOVEL. The author is a former Times feature writer. Snitch Jacket has sentences that sing and the book had a starred review in Publishers Weekly: "In Goffard's impressive debut, a darkly comic romp through the Southern California underworld, Benny Bunt, a 41-year-old dishwasher, finds his main escape in the Greasy Tuesday, a blue-collar bar in Costa Mesa. Among the recidivist misfits, his is a harmless familiar face. What they don't know is that Benny is a snitch who earns pocket money by ratting out his buddies to the cops. Enter one Gus "Mad Dog" Miller, a massive, bearded Vietnam vet, covered with prison tattoos; Gus holds court at the bar with outrageous tales of his exploits, military and criminal. Gus soon becomes Benny's best friend, and seeks his assistance in a contract killing. Only problem is, the police "botch" their surveillance and Benny ends up taking the fall for a double homicide committed at the Howling Head festival in the Mojave desert. Goffard's prose shimmers with intelligence and humor, and he has a keen ear for telling detail. Fans of such cultish neo-noir scribes such as Charlie Huston and Duane Swierczynski will be richly rewarded. (Oct.)" This is a prime collectable of a writer shooting for the stars.
