Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. 4th Edition. 8vo. vi 273, [56] (ads) plus a pink insert for the general printing office. Original printed boards, cloth spine, somewhat faded, endpapers sometime replaced. Internally good, though unfortunately one leaf (pages 207-208) lacking, replaced in early photocopy. A rare and fascinating guide to Bath at the height of its early fame, listing its inhabitants by name and street where lived, and with additionally detailed sections on its trades, academies, civic officials, hospitals, and so on, with an extensive advert section to rear. A great pity about the missing page, but still a very interesting and useful little volume, providing first-hand information about its social history. Uncommon on the market. Would make a marvellous backdrop for a novel set in Bath, because the whole of the city is described in such detail. One would only need to add in a plot!
