Raríssima, não consta dos principais catálogos de livreiros e de leilões de livros. BNP tem um só exemplar de cada edição. Muito importante para a história da formação do Brasil, para a história da Igreja Católica e para a história da Companhia de Jesus. O autor expõe e explica os principais poderes próprios dos Papas, que eram delegados nos Bispos do Brasil, para concederem importantes meios para a vida religiosa e para a sociedade da época, entre os quais, o que mais influenciava a sociedade, as dispensas para o matrimónio, para nubentes com laços familiares ou outros impedimentos e as dispensas concedidas aos candidatos às ordens sagradas com diversos impedimentos previstos no direito canónico da época. Durante a perseguição do Marquês de Pombal foi preso e deportado para Roma. Além das duas edições da presente obra, foram publicados quatro sermões da sua autoria, por impressores de Lisboa. Printed in italic characters in the dedication, the indexes, the summaries of chapters, sections and quotations and in round characters in the rest of the text arranged in two columns and ornamented with beautiful and elaborate headpieces, initials and decorative finishing fleurons . Copy with handwritten ownership titles from the College of the Company of Jesus, of Santo Antão, in Lisbon, on the title page. Extensive moth work, with entry holes in the spine and boards, galleries caused by the moth on the inner hinge of all leaves and a few marginal spikes of moth, which do not reach the text, with the exception of some preliminary pages, but without impeding reading The preliminary pages contain the dedication, to D. Lourenço de Valadares Vieira, Treasurer Major of the Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro, Commissioner of the Inquisition Tribunal of Lisbon and Protonotary Apostolic; the prologue to the reader; the licences with the authorisation of Father João de Seixas, Provincial of the Society of Jesus in Portugal, approvals of D. Very rare, it is not included in the main catalogues of booksellers and book auctions. The BNP has only one copy of each edition.
