Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. 3rd Edition. This is the third edition of Jeptha Simms' celebrated history of trapping and hunting in upstate New York during the latter part of the 18th and the early part of the 19th century. And then there is one of the most remarkable accounts of the life of Sir William Johnson, with details based on personal reminiscences of his contemporaries. Beautiful 1/2 leather binding with marbled boards and gilt lettering on spine. 287 pp. Illustrated with 3 woodcuts, plus frontis portrait of Major Nicholas Stone. Scarce copy of the Third Edition.
