Spine with five raised bands, gilt-tooled with red spine label, gilt lettering clear and well-defined. Leather binding shows only mild wear, with slight bumping to corners and a touch of wear at the head and foot of the spine. A few faint scuffs and surface scratches are present across the boards and spine. Binding firm and square. Title page shows damp staining and edge wear. Internally, pages display age-related toning and characteristic creasing consistent with historic exposure to moisture, though without loss or structural damage; text remains clear throughout. A well-preserved and highly presentable copy of this early work. Description Printed by Edward Griffin for John Kirton and Samuel Thompson in 1650, this is an early and extremely scarce 17th-century imprint. Works from this period are increasingly uncommon, particularly when surviving as complete texts, even when later bound. Copies are seldom encountered on the secondary market. A desirable example for collectors of early printed books and 17th-century literature. Synonymous Sylva is a 17th-century work concerned with language and expression, offering a structured exploration of synonyms and vocabulary. Reflecting the scholarly interests of the period, it serves both as a linguistic resource and a window into early modern approaches to language. The text provides insight into the development of English usage and rhetorical study.
