This biography of Hjalmar Horace Greeley Schacht examines his influential financial career under both the Weimar and Nazi governments in Germany. He helped found the German Democratic Party during the revolutionar…y days at the end of WWI, yet was a supporter of the Nazi government. Schacht served as the Currency Commissioner and President of the Reichsbank during the Weimar Republic and President of the Reichsbank 1933 - 1939 and as Minister of Economics, 1934 - 1937, after the Nazi Party rise to power. Simpson led the history department at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Very good copy of the first edition in a good dust jacket. The gilded printing on the spine is fading. The dust jacket has some fold marks in the upper two inches of the dust jacket's front cover. 202 pages.
