The first of the Daedalus/Panderma books, this is one of 50 containing an original signed and numbered lithograph by Platschek. The book as do all in this series, reproduces (in this case) Platscheks drawings and Schult's poems. Platschek co-wrote some of the Situationists' first German manifestoes, later moved to London with his wife novelist Gisela Elsner. She got the European book publishers prize in the early 60s, some enormous sum at the time. The film Die Unberührbare reprising her life à cléf black and white, harsh was recently enacted by her daughter, directed by her son: stunningly depressing. When Platschek entered our house in 1959 (having been to grade school in the early 1930s in Berlin with my mother) his immediate, and appropriate, comment upon being confronted by a large Bavarian impressionist painting, Woman with Parasol, was "Ja, so ein unglaublicher kitsch!" Anyway these Panderma Verlag books from early 1960's go for around £500 in their regular editions,e.g.bazon brock/bernard childs in recent tonini arengario's great catalogue, all decent prices.so ours as one of 50 with the signed litho is a real sleeper (though now noticed so unslept).

First Edition
First Edition. Broadside, 44cm x 57cm. Printed offset in black on white uncoated lithograhic paper; text in two columns beneath headline in Gothic type. Minor wrinkling at margins, else Fine. Issued January 10, 1969 as a "supplement" to the first issue of the American journal Situationist International, the imminent publication of which it announces. Possibly the first official pronouncement of the American Situationists following their admission to the SI in December, 1968. The broadside actually pre-dates publication of the first journal issue by some six months; and though earlier materials by the same core group of authors (primarily Robert Chasse) were published in 1967-8, these were issued prior to the admission of the American Section, all under the imprint of "The Council for the Liberation of Daily Life." Not in RASPAUD.
