From the back cover: Nancy Skolnik was born and raised in Northern California. The book began as a school project with her 4th grade daughter, Ashley Skolnik (who later won a Young Writer's award). Nancy expanded the book to teach children about the rain forest. The book is endorsed by Jon Provost (formerly known as the character "Timmy" on the Lassie series.)
