Decorative Cloth. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Sloan, John (illustrator). First American Edition. First Printing. A very nice fine copy in blue cloth with gilt decorations and lettering in a very good unclipped dustjacket. Signed by Masters on the title page--signature only. Rare to find with the dustjacket in this condition. From the recently auctioned collection of M. B. Goldstone--who along with his brother Homer, were Steinbeck's bibliographers. Minor edgewear and rubbing to the blue cloth only--gilt lettering and decoration of daydreaming boy on front board is splendid. Tight and square copy. Unmarked interior. There is some darkening to the half title page where Goldstone placed some old newspaper clippings of the book reviews associated with this title. The newspaper clippings are still enclosed. The dustjacket is very lightly soiled--as would be the case for a DJ from 1920. One very small closed end tear and some very tiny chipping to the head and heel--otherwise a rare intact DJ. A very nice copy. Beautifully illustrated throughout by Sloan. Signed by Author(s).
