Gray on Amphibia (Gray was Secretary to the Royal Society); Morgan on survival rates; Piazzi on the eclipse of the sun, Anderson on a bituminous lake in Trinidad; Baillie on changes in the ovary; Saunders on Bhutan and Tibet; Herschel on the discovery of a comet by his sister Caroline Herschel; a tabular presentation of the coming of spring by Robert Marsham; Waring on correspondent values, and on the resolution of attractive powers; Walker on cooling mercury; Herschel?s catalogue of a second thousand new nebulae; Maskelyne on vision, Nicholson on electricity; Milner on nitrous acid. Please note the condition problem with the front hinge and the slight foxing (see photos), but nevertheless in many respects a seminal volume, surprisingly rare in commerce. Herschel?s Observations on a comet (pages 151-153) continues the acknowledgement of his sister?s contribution to scientific discovery, one of the very earliest women whose work was recognised.
