Corvey bij Sijthoff. 1e druk. Oranje koordje los. Nogal curieuze literaire uitgave van iemand die niet bekend was met de wereld van het publiceren. De datum is onduidelijk, de zin van het boek eveneens, en waarom al die willekeurig ogende, in rood gedrukte letters? Smit (1876-1965) was vrijwilliger in het leger van de Boeren geweest, en daarna rijk geworden in de diamanten. In de jaren 50 stelde hij een eigen, driejaarlijkse, cultuurprijs in. Deze werd in 1961 uitgereikt aan Bert Haanstra - drieduizend gulden, niet niks toen.
