Inscribed by Smith on the title page: "With admiration, Cornelia Marschall Smith. 22/1/'90." Cornelia Marschall Smith [1895-1997] was a biology professor at Baylor University from 1940 to 1967; chairman of the biology department from 1935 to 1940; and director of the Strecker Museum from 1942 to 1967. She was Baylor University's Teacher of the Year for 1965-1966. Smith was elected to the Texas Women's Hall of Fame in 1989. She was married to Charles George Smith ([891-1967], a professor of English at Baylor University. With a reprint letter providing more information on this title and a gift bookplate on the rear pastedown, presenting the book.
