Small octavo, original pictorial wrappers. Revised edition, second printing. Pyramid Books F764. The first of the four Skylark novels and Smith's first published fiction. The story was jointly written, 1915-1920, with Mrs. Lee Hawkins Garby, who helped with dialogue, and supplied the love interest according to Smith. It was widely rejected by publishers until T. O'Conor Sloane bought it for AMAZING STORIES, where it appeared as a three-part serial, August-October 1928. It was first published as a book in 1946. The text of this Pyramid edition is a slight abridgment of the original; it is Smith's preferred text. Anatomy of Wonder (2004) II-1053. Short rub to fore-edge of rear cover and mild associated wrinkle, else a fine copy. Cover art by Richard Powers. (#158155).
