One column is laid in. Smith's (1896-1993) folk art paintings of Southern scenes have sold at auction. Smith was born in Georgia, moved to Florida when he was fifteen and had been awarded the state's Folk Heritage Award for Outstanding Contributions to Florida's Folklife. He was featured on Charles Kuralt's CBS series "On the Road" and the Smithsonian invited him to share his stories at the U.S. bicentennial celebration.
