Hardcover. Condition: Fair +. 582, [2] p., 18 leaves of plates (1 hand-colored): many in-text illustrations; 24 cm. Half calf. Pink-and-black marbled paper over boards. All page edges speckled. Marbled endpapers. Imprint includes: Joseph Breck & Son, Boston; C. M. Saxton & Co., New York; J. S. Waters, Baltimore; and S. C. Griggs & Co., Chicago. Bookplates on front fixed endpaper for former owners Abington Library Society, and John Lambert. Articles include: biographical sketches of American horticulturists Marshall Pinckney Wilder (1798-1886), and Thomas Hogg (1778-1855); Construction of Roads and Walks by William Saunders; and Plants for Hanging Vases by Thomas Meehan. Scarce. In Fair+ Condition: boards are detached but present; lacking leather over spine; foxing; otherwise, clean and solid.

Bound in half blue turkey morocco and purple cloth side last vol. marbled sides. With a pencil note laid in "P.G. Campbell 1/2 turkey". Fine, Plates have very little foxing, more in last volumes New Series Vol.IV--Janurary - New Series Vol. VIII, December, 1858. 5 vols. 8vo.
