Alyssa Whitall "Alys" Pearsall Smith 1867 - 1951 was an American-born British Quaker relief organiser and the first wife of Bertrand Russell. She chaired the society that created an innovative school for mothers in 1907. On 13 December 1894, Smith married Bertrand Russell, son of the Viscount and Viscountess Amberley in the Quaker Meeting House in St. Martin's Lane, London, England. They separated in 1911 and divorced in 1921. Lady Ottoline Violet Anne Morrell 1873 - 1938 was an English aristocrat and society hostess. Her patronage was influential in artistic and intellectual circles, where she befriended writers including Aldous Huxley, Siegfried Sassoon, T. S. Eliot and D. H. Lawrence, and artists including Mark Gertler, Dora Carrington and Gilbert Spencer. Size is 177mm x 113mm. Condition is good. Light folding crease. Light mark to front. Ref19334. Signed by Author(s).…
