Autorenportrait Ludwig Thoma, 1867 in Oberammergau als Sohn eines Försters geboren, war zunächst als Rechtsanwalt tätig, wurde um die Jahrhundertwende Redakteur beim "Simplicissimus" und lebte ab 1907 bis zum seinem Tod 1921 als freier Schriftsteller am Tegernsee.
