Tight, bright exlib hardcover in illustrated paper covered boards showing sharp tips and spine ends. 212 pp text is crisp, pocket and all pages present. Spine cracked at half title page but all leaves holding fine. Price-clipped dj has matching art as the boards do and displays well despite it's one call tag sticker on spine foot. Some ink transfer to frt dj flap from card pocket on opposite fep. Three generations unite and conquer their fears of a feudal authority that exists only in their minds. Brenda: Sixteen, fat, unpopular, Brian, the handsome athlete, Harold, bespectacled scholar, "Harold the Drip." Brenda's Parents: Working class with pretensions to middle class. Brenda's Grandparents: Retired relics of a time when the Bassett family controlled their lives. The powerful Bassett's are dead now, except for a nephew waiting to claim the estate. The great house stands empty, the only living thing remaining is an old horse up on the hill. It is Brenda who is determined to bring him down from the hill to save him from the winter and starvation. Slowly the horse works as a catalyst, joining three generations in a common bond greater then their petty wants and fears.
