Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Olive Snell (illustrator). 1st Edition. Two Volume hardcover set in red boards with gold gilt titles to spine and black title decorations to front cover including the ALL SEEING EYE insignia, first edition 1924 as stated in each volume, Volume 1: 322 pages with 10 maps; Volume 2: 358 pages (index and Appendices) with 8 maps plus an end of volume folding map of the Western Front attached to the rear, both volumes have a colored military sketch by noted female portraiture artist Olive Snell as frontispiece, inner hinges on both volumes well preserved with foxing specks only to edges of the half title pages, spine lean to Volume 1, fade to spines of both volumes and spot discoloration to cover boards, what make this 2 volume set unique are the numerous neatly detailed penciled notations in the borders of the text appearing in both volumes written anonymously by someone providing first person commentary on the story narrative, they do not reveal who they are so I will leave trying to identify the author to those more closely studied on this military topic, it is a bit intriguing.
