Despite having visited Nigeria on any number of occasions I cannot rightfully say where this book came from. Please find a large hard cover book titled: Lagos State Life and Culture Volume I edited by Gbenga Sonuga. This very large hard cover book (9 ¼ x 12 ¼ inches 197 pages) was published by Gabumo Publishing Company Limited of Lagos dated 1987 and the apparent First Edition. The book is bound in aquamarine blue cloth with bold gilt titles on cover and spine; it is protected by a glossy pictorial dust jacket. The book is very well illustrated mostly with color photos and often of people of the State. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket is clean and very presentable with just the faintest edge wear. The hard covers are clean and bright-dazzling even. Inside the book there is an apparent erasure of something on the front endpaper but this is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages and many color plates are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. …

No date listed on title page; copyright page dated 1987. 196 pages. Very good condition. Corners are bumped. Brown stream at bottom left corner of front cover. Fading to cloth at foot of spine. Binding is square and sturdy. Writing in pencil on front free endpaper; pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. Dust jacket is blue, with white and yellow lettering on the spine and front cover, and a full-color pictorial inset on the front cover. Good condition. 1-1/2" tear at bottom left corner of back cover. Rubbing to sides of jacket; some wear to edges and corners. Illustrated throughout with reproductions of artworks in full color, and with photographs in both black-and-white and full color. Pictorial publication which seeks to highlight the cultural diversity of Lagos State, in Nigeria. This is an oversized (and overweight) book.
