Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Special Edition. An attractive fine binding copy of this edition. Dubbed leather spine wrapping to the front and back cover boards, which are richly hand marbled. The binding has no date; it looks 'modern' but traditional. The lovely grained leather has been sunned on the spine, and the gold titling has suffered a bit, but the impression as you handle this very sturdy binding is that here is a substantial and attractive heirloom edition of an early masterpiece by Charles Dickens. Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Special Edition. Highly collectable C.S.Forester first edition, specially bound. It's from 1943, half bound in a most attractive grained blue leather with blue cloth boards. A very scarce and special binding by Hatchards of Piccadilly. Extremely rare in such a contemporary leather binding, and it is not known how many were offered thus. Spine has five raised bands, with gilt lettering. Lightly marked covers, and the spine has darkened a little.Top edge gilt, outside edge has browned because of the War Economy paper. Previous owner's bookplate to front endpaper. Tight binding with no loose pages, a few occasional spots of foxing buttext is generallyclean throughout.Overall condition isVery Good, but overriding this is the sheer rarity of such a distinguished binding on this much sought after book. Please excuse my shadow appearing in any photographs! Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng.
