A large quarto album with original New Zealand fern specimens decoratively mounted. 25 interleaved pages, each page has the specimens numbered, approximately 45 different species artistically arranged on the page. A rare armorial binding of full original morocco, with gilt fern emblems on the spine and round the edges of the boards. Front cover has a gilt rampant lion emblem. Bound by G (S) Smith of Edinburgh. Albums such as this are extremely rare and much sort after.
