July to December 1885. ii pp + 284 pp. Illustrated with numerous portrait engravings, plates illustrating guns, line drawings and decorated initials. Blue cloth with red and gilt decorations on upper board, spine titled…in gilt, marbled end-papers, all edges gilt. 8vo. (150mm x 216mm). Spine very faded and nicked - good only. The publishers produced ten volumes, bound in decorative cloth of diffent colours, covering the five years of publication. All of them have incorrect information on the title-page. In this example the title-page states July to December 1885, whereas the articles within were actually published August 1885 to January 1886. Contains a mixture of articles on a variety of sports (coarse fishing, deer and boar hunting, fen skating, game shooting, yachting, racing and coursing, together with short biographies and portraits of well-known sportsmen, and a little sporting verse. .
