July to December 1885. ii pp + 284 pp. Illustrated with numerous portrait engravings, plates illustrating guns, line drawings and decorated initials. Blue cloth with red and gilt decorations on upper board, spine titled in gilt, marbled end-papers, all edges gilt. 8vo. (150mm x 216mm). Spine very faded and nicked - good only. The publishers produced ten volumes, bound in decorative cloth of diffent colours, covering the five years of publication. All of them have incorrect information on the title-page. In this example the title-page states July to December 1885, whereas the articles within were actually published August 1885 to January 1886. Contains a mixture of articles on a variety of sports (coarse fishing, deer and boar hunting, fen skating, game shooting, yachting, racing and coursing, together with short biographies and portraits of well-known sportsmen, and a little sporting verse. .

Green Cloth. Condition: Good. 51 connective issues, the first 37 are exclusively soccer & the last 14 which cover the summer months are cricket & soccer. All illustrated. Bound in green cloth covers. Rare.
