Edward Dering, a 17th-century historian, collected numerous manuscript fragments of the Chronica and attributed them to Sprott. Thomas Hearne published them as a complete work in Oxford in 1719 a work which went on to be known as the Fragmenta Sprottiana, even though Sprott is no longer considered to be the author of the fragments. Her research focused on medieval English history, especially Richard III and medieval women. o Ephemera Letter Signed A. B. Emden, likely Alfred Brotherston Emden (1888 1979). Emden was an Oxford University historian and Principal of St Edmund Hall from 1929 to 1951. He published widely on matters concerning St Edmund Hall and the medieval church, and was placed in charge of the Oxford University Naval Division as a Lieutenant-commander during World War II. Addressed to Armstrong, who Anne F. Sutton surmises is Charles Arthur John (or C.A.J.) Armstrong (b. 1909). Armstrong was a leading post-war English historian, known for his studies of the First Battle of St Albans and the medieval Duchy of Burgundy. He is best remembered for discovering the long-lost Mancini manuscript: Dominic Mancini's account of the reign of Edward V of England and the accession of his uncle, Richard III in the summer of 1483.
