Add to basketNo Binding. Condition: Very Good. "Spy". pseud for Sir Leslie Ward (illustrator). 1st Edition. Colour lithograph by "Spy". of the defender of the Tichbourne Claimant Dr E. Vaughan Kenealy. Later MP for Stoke-on-Trent 1875-80. Never been framed with good margins, a little age browning to top edge, small closed split at bottom edge, print not affected. With original biographical details by Jehu Jnr. (Quite a scathing piece). Very good. * An Irish man educated at Trinity in Dublin, he shot to fame defending (unsuccessfully) the infamous "Tichbourne Claiment". Arthur Orton in 1871. Mr Orton, sometimes known as Thomas Castro a butchers son from Wapping (he was most likely) Kenealy lost the case was disbarred and the claimant got 14 years. He even produced a weekly paper protesting his clients true claim and haranguing most of the legal profession involved. He later became MP for Stoke. Not a bad man and a case involving high profile people can and has seen many broken and vilified. He suffered from diabetes (or epilepsy?) which may have accounted for his irascibility. He was 60 when he died.
