Condition: Near fine. Stylish album of 1960s British cigarette and loose tobacco packaging produced in conjunction with the appropriately-named industrial film "Packaging for the Tobacco Industry." Mad-Men era industrial photo album featuring a wide variety of cigarette and tobacco products. Shot in a highly stylized period manner, these marketing images lean heavily on the alluring glamor of cigarettes and smoking, ideas only just beginning to be questioned. Brands featured include Guards, Craven, Olympic, Diamond, Pall Mall, Churchill, Embassy, and many others. Squires also worked on such classic industrial films "Insulation of Buildings" and "A Good Catch," about high density polyethylene fishing nets. An evocative promotional relic from the twilight of smoking's golden age. 9.5" x 11" Original oblong contemporary screw-post black cloth photo album. Labeled "U / 20 / B" to spine in orange paint pen. 63 black leaves mounted recto-only (with one exception) to 62 pages (first leaf blank) with 64 original vintage gelatin silver photographs (most generally 6" x 8" approx.) and accompanying form mimeograph labels neatly completed in holograph. Labels and photos both neatly glue-mounted. Mild wear and rubbing, but overall clean, sound, and well-kept.
